FACING PRESSURE
Personal project
We are living in a demanding society, characterised by big pressure to succeed. Interested in how people show off visual signs of stress and pressure motivated me to start a series of portraits of University students during their exams, as a metaphor for our larger society, in which many people are dealing with (an overload of) stress and are searching for balance in their lives.
'Facing pressure’ begs the question: How will millennials and subsequent generations survive in the anthropocene?
Subjects as the effects of our global economy and the power of the photographic medium to capture a psychological state, are key elements in this series and returning aspects within my oeuvre.
